Um yeah.....I know I have been slacking on the blogging, however, I have a really good excuse.......I have been really busy. So I will try to do the best I can at playing catch up.
Aspen and Colten went with their dad for Christmas so it was an usual quiet Christmas for me. Luckily, I had David to keep me company. The two of us just spent some time together before heading over to my parents to play games with them and Darcee and Jay.
I got the kids back the day after Christmas so we opened presents that morning. Aspen's big toy was a Doc McStuffin's doll and Colt got his Hulk smashers (big green hands that he can punch things with). Overall, I think the kids were happy with their Christmas at both places. We spent the rest of the week just hanging out and doing some things that the kids wanted to do. When David's kids came back from their moms, we headed north. We stopped in Richfield so Aspen and Colt could see their Grandpa and Nana Higgins for Christmas. When we got there, we were surprised to see Great Grandma Higgins was there. After Richfield, we headed up to David's parents house in Midway. We didn't get there until after 10 so we got the kids to bed and went to bed ourselves.
Monday, David and I had to head down to Provo to run some errands so the kids stayed at G & G Hight's. Later that afternoon, Grandma Hight had arranged for the girls, Baylee, Alyssa, Alanah, Aspen and their cousin Meryn to go tubing at Sand Hollow. Aspen lasted about an hour before she got too cold so she sat with David and I at the lodge while the other girls finished tubing. Colt was heaven because I think he got to play the wii almost all day. Tuesday, we headed down to Salt Lake to David's brother's house. Mike and Kristina had invited us to celebrate New Year's Eve with them and man do they know how to party. We were the only family that was able to make it but we had fun playing games and eating lots of food. On Wednesday morning, everyone headed back up to David's parent's house for breakfast. Then early afternoon, we headed over to the Midway ice castle thingy. Apparently, the community does this every year but creates this ice castle type thing. They kids had fun going into all the different pathways. We probably would have stayed longer but our feet were cold. Plus we had to get heading back because David and I had to work the next day and Aspen had school. So we had to say our goodbyes and head home.
When we got back, we had exactly two days until our wedding. Luckily, at school, we had planned two days of department collaboration so I didn't have to be in the classroom with the students. My mom was actually my sub. I am grateful to have her as my sub because I knew she would do what I asked her to do even if the students fought with her on it.
Saturday was the big day. Eek, luckily for me there were not too many nerves. I had slept over at Darcee's house so that Kayleeya and Darcee could do my hair. Plus when I got over to the church, Darcee did my make up. I am so hopeless when it comes to girly girl things. I started to feel light headed and had to get some food in me right before the ceremony was about to start. I found out later that it could have been my anemia that I apparently have had for a while. Anyway, the ceremony was absolutely beautiful. We had David's bishop perform the ceremony and he did an excellent job. We had a lot of family and close friends that shared the day with us. I was so glad to finally be married and my kids were excited to move in with their new siblings. David and I were able to get away for a few days before heading back to reality.
It has now been a month of blending our two families. With how weekends feel and the holiday, we ended up having the kids every weekend. I am going to have to work on my proportions on my cooking skills. It is definitely a different experience cooking for three as it is cooking for nine. But things are going well. Yes, we have our struggles but we work through them and come out stronger.
