Well I think that this December has been one of the most busy Decembers we have had. Lots of activities and holiday celebration.
Colt has started up in basketball. His first game was on the 2nd. He did AWESOME!! He went out there the first time and was playing all defense and being a good teammate and passing the ball. Then when he came out I just let him know that he can shoot the ball. From then on, he took control of the game and scored the next 18 points of the game and helped his team to a 22-12 win. He loves playing the game. Although, we need to get him playing some basketball video games. I heard phrases like "down field" and just shook my head.
The next week he didn't score as many points but there was a really tall "6 year old" that just sat underneath our goal and just blocked every single shot. He did get 4 points though and was playing really good defense.
He is really excelling in school. He has moved up another reading level. Considering that he wasn't reading before he went into school and now where he is above reading level, I am really proud of him. He doesn't always like to read or do his school work but he is learning a lot.
Aspen joined the school choir this year. She has been getting up early on Tuesdays and Thursdays to go sing. She has really been enjoying it. I have caught her in her room practicing her songs (instead of doing her homework). They finally had their concert this past week. And man am I impressed. This choir probably has at least 100 students and they sound great. They didn't just sing the normal Christmas songs either. They had actions and dancers and soloists. It was a really great production for an elementary school.
Aspen has been doing alright in school. She has had more homework than she is used to, mainly on the computer. She will be doing the state testing this year as well so she is having to do a writing assignment every week. She hates it. It is a constant battle to get her to do it. We are pushing through though. She does enjoy reading now, which she used to not, so I'll take that.
