Got a little excitement in the house

Well I started this post last weekend...didn't get very far lol.  But I'll try to catch up...not that there is much.

Our area was hit hard and had multiple fires within 10 miles of each other over 2 days.  First day there was a fire off exit 27 that closed the road for 5 miles.  But they were able to get it out within a day.  There was also a fire in Hurricane by the elementary (down the road from Hollee's).  Then the following day Zac texts me that there is another fire.  When we drove to Davis that night we were greeted with this sight.  Again, they had it out by the following day.  Grateful for the amazing firefighters that keep our homes safe.

The following day we had another visit with Zac's girls...the evening visit turned into a sleep over :)  The girls kept me busy the next day (after teaching in the morning) along with Oaklee and Raven.  It is so fun to have the girls over and bring a little life to the house (and noise).  Oaklee always keeps you on your toes.  At one point (while I was outside and she was inside) she opened the front door and threw Twix out.  Twix was quick to run back in but it left me laughing cause it was so unexpected.  You forget that each kid does their own thing.  Tashlee loved sitting in the convertible bug that is supposed to be fixed up and sold.  Zac fixed Annika and Channing's bikes so they like riding those.  Raven is a crawler now and liked to get into Twix's water supply.  Needless to say after a few hours of that, I was in need of a break.  After Oaklee and Raven left, Zac took his girls with him for a little bit so I had my break.  Then Zac and I returned to our quiet house.

Then this week, on Memorial Day, Zac had said he wanted to go for a drive but surprised me saying that the bottoms of our cabinets were done.  He was a little disappointed not being able to go for the drive but knows that getting the cabinets in was important.  We made one too many trips into St. George to Home Depot and even more trips to Tru Value or Ace but the kitchen is almost done.  Zac got his handy man friend Shane to come install the cabinets and get the countertops installed.  He also got the sink put in and everything hooked up aside from the garbage disposal.  We were missing a part on the disposal so we headed back to Home Depot only to find out they don't carry it.  And they don't carry the hinge that we need for one of our doors next to the stove.  But Zac knew the right person at Scholtzen's plumbing and we were able to get the right piece for the disposal.  Now Zac just needs to finish installing it lol.

Also this past Sunday, Hollee invited us over for dinner and it was amazing.  We had BBQ ribs, watermelon, corn on the cob and roasted veggies.  Oh so good.  Hollee and I got chatting outside and the boys moved inside and were talking guns.  So we had a good time.

Also this past week I had an idea to heart attack my primary class.  My co-teacher helped by getting the kids that were by her and I did the ones by me.  It was fun to get a couple of texts from parents saying the kids enjoyed it.

Then this past Thursday, Zac had told his ex that the house was a mess from the cabinets/counters getting put in so he would forego the visit this week.  But the girls still wanted to meet up, so we picked them up and headed down to the river.  Then we did go back home for dinner.  It was a little hard finding someplace to sit but we all managed.  The girls were so excited to find tadpoles and play in the water.  Again, it is so fun to have them a little each week after not really seeing them much before then.

So we have had these 2 rabbits since about December for Aspen and Colten.  They have done a pretty good job taking care of them but then they left to their dads and left them in my care.  Well that's fine but they had the food thing all the way to the back of the cage and Bobo kept swatting her paw and my hand and scaring me so the food split on the floor.  Finally, I tried to secure the side doors so they couldn't get out but eventually Thumper got out.  So when we saw both rabbits back in the yard, Zac used wood to secure the door better.  And that worked until Zac forgot to put the wood back after he was done working (so not his problem) and the rabbits got out.  Zac saw one of the rabbits up front while working but I saw both of them later in the back so we figured they would come back for food and water.  But it's been a full day and the food is still there so I think they are gone or dead.  Sorry kids.  Zac tried letting our chickens out in the backyard (I think because he is tired of me telling him that they are out of food).  Twix had fun watching them and tried swatting at them a few times lol.  Anyway, here are a few pictures of the animals and their craziness.

I forgot that Colten got trophy for earning "Give Me Liberty" at school

Mrs. Tui from Arrowhead reached out to me to give Colten this sign :)

So quiet around the house

With the kids gone, Zac and I are finding out that we are pretty quiet lol and we sometimes miss the loudness that comes with kids.  But we are enjoying some alone time.  Zac is busy working on the cars and I am keeping busy with my work and school but we both wind down in the evening.  We have stalled on the bathroom sink lol...just need to cut the other one so the sink reaches the pipes.  We have been trying a few new places around Hurricane (mainly food trucks).  One was called Cross Country Diner and man was that delish...definitely going back again.  Zac is trying to build some new tanks for his lizards so we have been spending time down at the creek looking for rocks, cool sticks, tadpoles and fishes.  So here are a few pictures from our adventures.

Zac got an awesome surprise while talking to his girls when Brandi said the girls could come over for the evening.  We aren't holding our breathe but they have come two weeks in a row.  Definitely brings joy to both our hearts.  On the first week, we went to Wal-Mart and the girls picked out a Mother's Day card for me and gave it to me that evening.  It was so sweet.  Here are a few pictures from both weeks (the second week we headed down to the creek to get more tadpoles and fish)

Last Sunday was Mother's Day.  Zac took me out for breakfast at the Rooster Run and the dining area was open :). (We are slowly going back to normal life since COVID-19 has slowed a little but let's be honest that Washington County never went on stay home).  Then we went over to my parents for another try at waffles (without Dad ending up in the hospital) and it was a success!  But while there Zac was talking to Jay about our Raider's bedroom and I said that I would get Broncos stencils and paint them all over the room...Zac didn't believe me and I bought 2 stencils right then.  They arrived this week and Zac painted the Broncos logo on a wall lol.

Aspen and Colten sent something through the mail and put "Do not open until we call" on the top of the package :( The package arrived on Friday so I had to wait until Sunday.  But the kids were excited and know me so well.  They got me Andes mints, Twizzlers, Skittles and Hot Tamales.  They had also gone fishing the day before and were successful catching fish.  It was fun to talk with them.

We have also worked on getting the rabbits to be able to roam in the backyard and I would say that we did it as I have seen two rabbits most days.  Twix likes to watch them through the back door.  Twix has also turned into the spastic cat and sleeps in weird positions, enjoys the water bottle plastic and sticking her tail out of weird things.   She definitely keeps us laughing.
