Birthday time in our house

Oh how I love the month of April...it's birthday time in our house.  Channing celebrated turning 6 on the 6th (we weren't able to actually celebrate with her but still wished her a happy birthday in our hearts),  I turned 37 on Friday :). And in keep in my past couple of birthdays, I totally took Friday off of work.  I actually took the final five Friday's off to give me a 4 day work week at the end of the year lol.

But let's head bak to earlier in the week.  Zac and I did a trip to Wal-Mart and found that Cadbury eggs were on sale (after Easter) for $1.49.  I grabbed 2 and Hollee wanted 10!  But they are pretty good.
I was able to get the kids the past two years of blog books cause of sales.  Told the kids that they were their easter this year.  They had fun reading them (btw they were quite large compared to other years).
Then Colten and I were able to go out on a walk...ended up at Davis to pick up some things for dinner.  We also threw the football when we got back.  I am getting better at throwing and catching so hopefully it is helpful to him :)

Colten has gotten a little more bored this week.  I was trying to help Zac with something for work so I told him to draw me a picture.  This is what he gave me lol
Then he took it back and added on...hahaha love that kid
Pretty much everything else has been the same.  COVID-19 cases are growing in Utah...Southwest isn't as much as northern Utah so we have been trying to keep to the Stay Safe, Stay Home directive given.  Oh and we got word that schools will continue remote learning until the end of the school year.  The kids were upset when I told them...Colten was sad that he wouldn't be returning to La Verkin Elementary.  He only got 3 months there.

And then we get to my birthday on Friday :).  It was a great day.  I made some cinnamon rolls in the morning and then I was able to be lazy and lounge around the house while Zac was working.  I was able to walk with the kids to get school lunch.  Then everyone took their lunch down to the river while Zac looked for sticks and rocks for his new fish tank.

The kids spoiled me.  Colten got me Hot Tamales/Cool Mint (not a fan of the cool mint).  Aspen drew a picture of Jesus Christ for me.  Zac took me to St. George where we stopped by my parents who gave me a cool cookie cutter thing.  Then we went to Chick-fil-A take out and ate in the PetSmart parking lot.  Then off to Sweet Tooth Fairy for my birthday cupcake, Zac couldn't resist getting a couple of his own.  Then since every place was pretty much closed we headed out to the Hurricane Wal-Mart where we found Colten some church clothes.  Zac got him a pretty snazzy church suit and some football trading cards.  And because he is horrible at keeping secrets he gave them to Colten.  Poor boy is not going to have anything to open on his birthday.  But Colten said he knows it's not his birthday yet but it is already the best birthday ever.

Then on Saturday morning Zac said "How about we have a birthday weekend for you?"  He got me (and himself) walking sticks from Davis.  Now I hope to be able to go on walks for longer than 30 minutes.  Then this morning he told me that he got me a new phone!!!  How did I get so lucky to find him???  He truly is the best.

We also got the kids some Legos to entertain them before they head out early for their dads.  And Zac and I played a trust game with the nerf guns and shooting a cup off of our head.  Zac did a way better job than me but I finally got the cup off.

Third week has brought new challenges

The first one was that I was on Spring Break...but different since the kids were home.  I was able to get a few things done and I walked with the kids, well mainly Aspen, to grab school lunch.  Colten likes to run so I didn't get many pictures of him.

Colten and I did make some no bake cookies after my other cookies failed lol.

Zac got the kids pocket knives for Easter.  The kids have had fun carving out walking sticks.

Zac picked up his next project.

Kids have been working hard to get the yard and weeds cleaned up.

Aspen and I got haircuts for the spring.  Mayce has a salon at the back of her house and we loved her!

Colten was in a sour mood on Friday so I got him to go out and do a neighborhood scavenger hunt.  We did the first one completed and went and found another one...seemed to get him in a better mood.  We also saw Zac's girls on the way back...that is always fun.

But the quarantine is getting to all of us.  Grandma and Grandpa Chris came by on Friday to drop off an egg hunt for the kids to do.  The kids enjoyed it...it was physical activity so they had to do jumping jacks, silly dance, planks, push ups, sit ups and jumping...the kids did well with all but jumping for a minute was tiring.  I videoed all of the different things since my parents didn't answer the video chat for them to join in on the fun.

Aspen received an Easter egg from her Young Women's leaders...she was so excited.

The kids and I (and Twix) walked up to the post office and my leg didn't give out.

Colten got some nerf guns on Saturday night cause he was bored out of his mind.  Of course, Zac picked up one too.  Then we had a mini nerf gun fight...Aspen and Colten continued after Zac and I bowed out.

Today is Easter.  We participated in the worldwide fast on Friday (requested by Pres Nelson at conference last week).  I was impressed the kids lasted through the 2 meals and they didn't complain at all.  I told them when their stomach growl to remember the reason for their fast (which was to help the world fight COVID-19, protect the caregivers and help the economy).  They held strong to their fast (we did do an early dinner) but overall I hope it is a testimony to them that they are able to participate in a full fast when they put their minds to it.  I also asked the kids to do a drawing to represent the resurrection.  Colten took it a step further and did one of the First Vision (which was the topic of General Conference last weekend).  The kids are pretty bored that they will do pretty much anything.  This morning we talked about the resurrection and what it means and made a plan to do better at Come Follow Me.  Then we went for a drive up to Kolob Lake but the road was closed.  We had a picnic in the car and just enjoyed the scenery.
