On Friday we did go see Shrek the Musical at Tuacahn. Colt still gets bored during the slow times but luckily they weren't too many. The kids really enjoyed it and they were worn out.
The kids seemed content to play with the neighborhood kids and do chores to get their electronic time. On the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, the kids ended up sleeping over at Darcee's while my mom and I headed down to Vegas to get a new car for me. On Sunday, we went over to my parent's for dinner. Colt was able to play chess with Great Grandpa Chris - he lost though...but I think he had fun.
On Memorial Day - we didn't do much. We took turns picking a movie to watch and I was able to just spend some time with my kids. I tried to teach them a game...Shanghai...we played 3 rounds..Colt seemed to enjoy it...Aspen lost interest in it when she got stuck on a round. We never made it back to finishing the game. We did make it to a the spinny park for the kids to play for a little bit.
On Tuesday, I had promised the kids we would actually do something. At first, they said fiesta fun...then I called on this new soft nerf gun place. They were doing half off that day. So we went down there to check it out...and stayed for 3 hours. They could have stayed until 9:00 but I had to get home and get ready to leave the next day. I think we will head back to there when the kids return.
On Wednesday, I still had to work 4 hours...ended up working almost 5 then rushing to get everything ready to leave. We did make it to our eye appointments on time. All 3 of us with the same result, eyes have gotten worse. I just expect that every year.
Then we headed up to Salt Lake to get the kids off to their dad's. He was waiting in SL for us to get up there. We made it up there around 6. The kids were excited to see their dad and Hunter and Lindsay. I thought it wouldn't be too bad leaving them cause I had been thinking of what I would do with the alone time. But it was hard and I did cry for a minute. It's Sunday and I haven't heard from them..although I did try to text them just haven't heard back.
So I went out to Marilyn's for the night and chatted with her and Bob. I headed to Salt Lake in the morning for my work meetings. That afternoon we did home visits..Becca and I only made it to one house (the other student was on the Oregon coast). It was very eye opening to see how this particular student was living.
That night I got to hang out with Kyle Foulon. We went to The Melting Pot and vegged out on chocolate fondue and treats. Then we walked around Salt Lake just talking. I stayed up way too late (for me at least). Had trouble getting up in the morning for my extra meeting. All in all meetings went really good..except the internet wouldn't work so we mostly just talked. I was able to head home around 2 which was good cause I was tired and so glad I wasn't driving at night.
But I was home a few hours and was able to hear a pipe pop off the dishwasher and start to flood the kitchen. Ugh so I spent the next few hours trying to get that cleaned up. The rental property company did send someone to help out but he only had one dryer and there were two areas that needed drying.
So I am still listening to the dryers go but glad that he was able to get me hot water for my shower today. Other than that, I have just been watching way too much tv and being by myself. My parents are in Boston this week so yeah...although I did go invade their house yesterday to do my laundry (I didn't have hot water until later in the day). I don't know how much I am going to post over the next month without the kids but we'll see.
