Bear Lake 2017

I was anxious to see the kids so I took off to Marilyn's house on Thursday so I could go get them Friday morning.  And of course, the kids texted on Thursday saying they have a new game for me to play and to come earlier than planned.  It was a fun game, Skull King.  But I was ready to head on up to Bear Lake.  Had to make a pit stop in Logan.  Colt needed to get a shot for his warts that keep coming back.  And we had to do a little shopping.  It has been a long time since I have driven to Bear Lake via Logan...so I told the kids we would have a competition of who could spot the lake first.  I won of course.  But I also had a slight advantage of remembering the road layout.  We stopped at the scenic overview and took a picture because I realized we have never had a picture of the whole lake.

We didn't waste any time after getting our stuff in the condo...the kids went swimming right away.  Hollee and Jonah were also there.  Aspen was super excited to see Oaklee.  My parents had not left St George til 4pm so they wouldn't arrive til well after I was in bed.  The first night our porch light wouldn't turn off and so we had every gnat in the county at our porch and about half of them came into the condo when my parents arrived.  I went for a run Saturday morning and stopped by the office and asked them to take care of the light.  They said they would send someone over to show us how to turn out the light...um we know how to to turn it off but it doesn't work.  The maintenance guys figured that out when they tried it.  But it got fixed and we left the light off the rest of our stay.  Very few gnats for us.

I can't remember what we did each day so I'll recap and share pictures.  We spent some time on Uncle Bob's boat.  Colt loved riding the tube and has become the little daredevil.  Kevin did get him to realize that the driver of the boat has control of what the tubers do.  He was riding with Abby and Kevin would push them each out on the wake on the different sides.  You just saw the face of worry shift from Colt to Abby and back and forth and each side of the tube went out in the waves.  It was funny.  Aspen was able to drive the boat as well.

We had Justyn's jet ski's up with us.  Saturday they weren't on the water too long due to a Bear Lake storm trying to ruin the day.  But on Monday, we got them out early and got a good day's run out of them.  I learned how to ride the little one a little better since I had to drive it over from the marina.  Just can't turn too fast.  Mom and dad also brought up the little kayaks.  The kids had fun taking turns going out on those.  On Wednesday my Uncle Keith rented the trampoline.  The kids had a lot of fun going out and bouncing and jumping off of it.  The lake is a lot higher than we are used to so it was quite a swim out there.  I went out and just relaxed trying to get the energy to head back to shore.

The family also took a trip to the ice caves.  More snow than 2 years ago.  Us St. Georgians forget that snow is actually cold...well the kids forgot.  But they had fun trying to hike all around the snow.

The biggest thing that happened at Bear Lake was Colt learned how to ride a bike :)  I was trying to work with him and finally told my family..."I need help" cause I couldn't see what he was doing wrong.  My mom came and watched and said he needs to learn to balance.  So she had the idea of just letting him coast down the little hill to get used to what it should feel like.  Genius...he worked at it for an hour and a half and finally was able to ride a bike.  I had told him before we even went to Bear Lake that if he could ride his bike into town, I was buy a shake.  Then I had to sweeten the deal a little to really encourage him...he would get to go ride the go karts.  After I told him that, he buckled down and really wanted to learn how to do it.  Once he learned, he was out there riding the bike whenever we were at the condo.  Jayden won a bike rental from Ideal Beach so he tagged along on our shake run.  It was a great little bike ride until the very end when Aspen accidentally ran into Colt while trying to ride up the hill to get to the condo.  Other than that, it was great...Colt liked leading the way.

The kids spent plenty of time in the pool as well.  They loved the pool with the diving board and loved the slides.  Excited for next year when we are actually at the Ideal Beach so the kids can go to those pools more often.

All in all it was a great week spent with lots of family and we had lots of fun!  I love our Bear Lake tradition and so grateful that my kids love it too.

Church sleep is the best kind of sleep.  My dad and Karston are just soaking in the talks lol

Ideal Beach has added ping pong tables and chess sets (one giant chess set).  The kids loved playing each other.

The birthday part game this year was wet head...the kids had fun playing it.

Colten photobombing my picture.
He liked to ride his scooter on this trail...that is before he learned how to ride his bike :)

I told him to go back down the hill and see if he could beat me...then I started to run...he didn't like that too much.
Oh yeah...we played a little tennis uh I mean hit the ball and fetch the ball.  We are not good at tennis.

See...daredevil

Aspen rode her bike with me one morning....she did awesome until about mile 5...then her legs started to hurt.
