Girls Trip!!!!

Yep this post is all about me....mom :)

During my runs I listen to Pandora radio.  I go back and forth between the Luke Bryan and Sam Hunt stations.  They are very similar but you get more songs of the main artist with whichever one I choose.  Well I have always like Luke Bryan songs and so I started following him on Facebook.  I noticed that he was on tour so I looked up his future venues.  Low and behold he was heading to Salt Lake the next month.  I asked Hollee if she would be interested in going...she said Of course!!!  Then when I went to ask my mom if she could watch the kids she said "what if I want to go?" so I said sure!!  Darcee didn't have the funds to go but she watched my kids for me :)

So we headed out Saturday morning (I woke up at like 4 - my body hates me) after dropping the kids off to Darcee, who btw was the awesome aunt and got them to their soccer games.  We had a nice chat up to Salt Lake - I napped a little.  We only had to make two potty breaks and switch drivers, Hollee was way impressed.  We did stop to eat the T-bone in Springville.  That place is sooo good.  Took the left overs with us.  We got to Salt Lake around 4ish and headed to Keith and Leslie's house.  We found out later that they are only 10 minutes away from the venue, USANA amphitheater.  So we were able to chat with them for a little bit before heading out to the concert.  10 minutes is the travel time IF there isn't a concert.  We didn't make it a half of a mile before we hit traffic.  But we made it got parked a little ways away.  Since mom just had knee surgery she brought her walker along with.  So I looked pretty awesome with a pregnant lady and a lady with a walker :)  Actually, it didn't phase me one bit.  I was there to have fun.  None of us had been to USANA before and when we were buying tickets there was a seats price and a grass price.  We opted for the seats price...and glad we did.  USANA is HUGE and I don't know how people on the grass even saw anything.  We were still a ways away but at least we could see the stage and the people on it.

Dustin Lynch was the opening act. I think he is blooming artist.  I recognized a few of his songs but not many.  Next was Little Big Town.  I was excited for them but they didn't sing too many songs that I recognized.  Dustin sang for about 30 minutes, Little Big Town about 40 minutes.  Each had a 20 minute intermission to get the stage set up for the next act.  Luke Bryan was awesome!  He sang for about 90 minutes.  We were on our feet for pretty much all of Luke's performance.  Between Hollee and I we got video of most of his performance.  It was so AMAZING!!!!  I am so glad that I went and I had Hollee and my mom with me.

Who's shocked it has been a month since last post?

Not me...but some of it i not my fault, I am going to blame a little on David.  He has been working weekend graveyard shifts the last month and he sleeps in the office room when he gets off.  Well the office has the computer soooooo yeah.  But I have now moved the computer into my room so no excuses anymore.  I will do my best to play catch up.  Good thing I have Facebook to remind me of everything we have done this last month.

This first post I'll start with the Santa Clara 5K.  I loved the 5K last year and so the kids and I decided to do it again this year.  I was actually able to run clear up til the race...didn't get sick like last year.  (sadly I haven't been running consistently since - but that changes this week).

So I we got up and got all ready to go by 6:30.  We needed to take the shuttle to the race but we were at the starting line by 6:45am.  It was a little chilly but we would warm up soon.  Last year they had requested that all of the kids and walkers start behind the second line.  They didn't do that this year.  Colt asked if he could try and get up front.  His goal was to get in the top 3 of his age group.  I said yes after I explained what he needs to do if he finishes the race before me.  So off he went.  I also explained to Aspen that I would not be staying with her.  She had a friend there that she would start off the race with.  I think she ended up leaving her during the race sometime.

So the race starts and right off the bat, I notice a difference of not "warming" up.  We did a little aerobics but not much.  My program that I had used always has a 5 minute walk/jog to start off before running so I noticed the difference of just starting off running.  Anyway I had another running app going so I could keep tabs on my pace.  I was hoping to finish in under 30 mins. Every mile it gave me my pace which was just under 10 minutes.  About .5 miles from the finish line I see Colt up ahead walking.  When I get to him he starts running with me.  He says "I don't care about my goal anymore" and I tell him that is alright as long as he finishes the course.  We run for a little bit more and then he says he wants to walk so he runs ahead a little so t hat he can walk and still be in front.  Well at that point we had come around a corner to where you could see the finish line.  So he was a little bit ahead of me.  Probably at mile 3 I turned on my sprinting wheels and decided I was going to catch him and just barely beat him.  Well he decided to do the same.  I came in 1.1 seconds behind him.  He later tells me that he could hear my footsteps.  We went back to the finish line to wait for Aspen.  We didn't have to wait long.  She comes across the finish line like 2 minutes later.  She improved her time by about 3 or 4 minutes from last year.  We went and grabbed some of the fruit they provided and then got our times.  Colt's card said he came in 2nd place in his age group.  So we went and got their breakfast and waited around for the awards ceremony.  The official results said that he got 3rd in his age group but he still got a cow bell.  He was super happy about that.

Right after the 5K we had sports.  Colt had a football at 9, Aspen soccer at 10 and then Colt soccer at 12.  I didn't get any pictures of football, got video.  But according to facebook - which I trust way more than my memory - he had one interception, 2 balls batted down and one touchdown.  Running 3 miles didn't slow him down one bit.

Aspen has been doing better with soccer.  She is still not very aggressive, like she won't get in the middle of a group to try and get the ball.  But she will move quickly to get the ball headed in the right direction.

Colt is doing well in soccer.  He isn't scoring much but he is a great defender.  It's hard to get a good picture of him because I am usually keeping time and they never seem to come to the area of where I am sitting.
