New Year's Eve 2016
We spent it at my parents...big surprise. Darcee's kids joined us. I was ready for bed at 9:00 but the kids kept me up til midnight (it didn't help that our church was changing to 9am the next day). So David came and joined us for a little bit until Austin got off of work. The kids kept busy playing games. Then at the stroke of midnight they were out the door with noise makers. I think I was falling asleep on the couch. I took the kids and headed home within 10 minutes of the stroke of midnight. All in all it was a good night spent with family.
I got the Christmas decorations down before I headed back to work on Jan 3rd. The kids still had another 2 days off after me so they spent one day at Grandma's and the rest of the time on their electronics. With David sleeping and me working, I did resort to that.
Colt has enjoyed sleeping in the tent David got him. He always goes to bed completely in the tent but this one morning he had turned the tent around during the night.
The next weekend was Martin Luther King break. I took the kids bowling that day. They had fun. Well Colt was super frustrated he was doing bad but he got to the point where he was just trying to do better than the previous game. Aspen did pretty well. I think she scored over 100 on two of the three games. We also visited the pet store where they went crazy over the little puppies. So overall, I think they had a great day away from school.
I have also gone out to visit Hollee and Jonah a few times this month. Took the kids out there once and we played the game lolz. Once I got over trying to talk with the thing in my mouth (caused I laughed for about 5 minutes the first time I tried to talk), I didn't do too bad at it.
Colt has started in basketball with the same coach he had last year but they are in a different league again this year. It's the Ivins league. The first two "games" are more like practice and Colt was really upset he didn't play a game that night. He has since been happy that he is actually playing in games. His team isn't as experienced as him so he is struggling a little with that. Luckily this team doesn't keep score.
Aspen is just doing gymnastics and achievement days. I am hoping to get her in softball this spring. Her class finally has been able to start the Apple Valley days. Apple Valley is where they dress up as school kids from the days of one classroom schools. She has loved it so far. Unfortunately her class is really loud so she doesn't get to do it too terribly often.
We have been having some crazy weather in St. George. Lots of rain and we even got snow. It was my favorite kind of snow storm.
I am finally getting into my master's program and start this week. So just as I was getting to enjoying has time to relax it will now be taken up with school. I am hoping to push through the degree quickly and get it done in a 1.5 years as opposed to 2 years. I am hoping it doesn't take too much time away from the family.
