This is more for me but last week was a little brutal. Worked more hours trying to get my kids tested for their diagnostic test and since we are doing visible testing that requires more class time of proctoring tests. But I survived it. Still have a couple of kids that need to test but I'll work on getting those done this week. All in all my school is going good. I have some really fun students and it should be a good year.
School is going good for the kids. Aspen has applied and interviewed to be on student council. She will find out this week whether she got on or not. She is loving her classes. She tells me that two of her teachers don't like homework so she won't get any. I think she is enjoying being back at school even though she won't admit it. Colten is already working hard on the Give Me Liberty project. He has learned how to sign the pledge of allegiance. He worked on the "Star-Spangled Banner" last night. He wants to have everything done by November (except the Gettysburg address). Man kid, quit showing the rest of us up lol. This past week on his math homework, it was two questions...something like write the smallest number possible with the following numbers. He looks up and grins and says "it doesn't say anything about decimals" and grins. So he writes the smallest decimal. I told him to write the smallest whole number since that is what the worksheet was on but yes he was correct. This kid is going places in life.
Regular life is back to normal. I'm running my kids, really just Colten, to the various activities during the week. I took Colten to the eye doctor this past week due to the stinging that happens sometimes when he tries to put in his contacts. The doctor said to keep contacts out for a week and then we might have to go to daily :(. We'll see what happens at his follow up appointment this week.
Friday the kids actually went over to Grandma's for a sleepover. With the crazy busy work week, I hadn't had any time to work on my master's program and I wanted to submit my first project. So Grandma was able to take the kids. Apparently on Friday night, they went over to Kayleeya's work to swim...lucky. Saturday Grandma took them to get a whole bunch of freebie's off of the Starving Student Card that expires at the end of the month. They went to Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Fiesta Fun and Zeppe's. Oh and then she dropped them off at the SHAQ pool for more swimming. The kids had a lot of fun. Meanwhile, I got my project submitted :) and then went shoe shopping with Zac. After I picked up the kids and had dinner, we went to the park and played football and/or soccer. Zac threw the football with Colten. I learned that Colten has an arm on him. Him playing football at recess is doing something for him. Aspen and I kicked the soccer ball around. It was a great way to end the day.

And school begins
Well this past Monday life got real again...Washington County started school. Aspen is excited to again be the top dog in her school. She'll get that feeling three more times lol. She is now in the 7th grade and things are going well for her. She has applied to be on student council and she interviews this week. She is excited either way to be back at school (not so much about the wake up time) but she is enjoying being back with her friends.
Colten started the 5th grade and is also the top dog at his school, although he doesn't care that much about it. He is glad to be back on a schedule and with all his activities, schedules are definitely needed lol. He has Mrs. Tui (same as Aspen) for homeroom and then he goes to Mrs. Bringhurst for math and Mrs. Olsen for LA. He was early out all week due to testing. So this past week wasn't too bad schedule wise...it will pick up this week when he doesn't have early out. This past week he tested for his blue belt in karate and he passed! Colten has enjoyed being part of Freedom Martial Arts since joining last December. Sensei Judd has pushed him and he has worked hard. Colten has also started back up with tackle football. It is still over 100 degrees when he goes to practice but he doesn't have a problem sleeping at night.

My school started on Thursday. We didn't have an extra week to prepare like we normally do so it was fast. This year will be a great year. We are trying to move to visibility classrooms, although I know 8th graders will be tough but hopefully they will pull through and just go with it. After being on the computer for about 7 hours I was encouraged to do some self care so I walked up to the bus stop and met Colten. I thought about doing that with Aspen as well but thought it would embarrass her so I didn't. So glad that I only had to teach 2 days so I could use the weekend to refresh :)
On Saturday, we all headed up to Cedar City for SUNJAM. This is where 20 minute scrimmages happen against teams from the same grade. It was cooler up in Cedar but definitely still hot. I didn't remember, or really care, that Cedar was at a higher elevation so I got some sun and Zac got fried lol. We were scheduled for 4 scrimmages but the coach arranged for a 5th one. I think we "won" all but the last one....I think. It was fun to watch the team play again and I can't wait for actual games. We went to Panda Express afterwards to eat. And then just relaxed when we got home. All in all it was a great day.

Summer closeout part 3
After fan fest, I had one more week of summer. Most of the time was spent relaxing at the house but Monday and Tuesday night the kids and I went to Tuacahn to see the shows. Aspen was really excited to see The Sound of Music since she had seen the movie in her theater class last year. Colten didn't enjoy it that much lol. Both the kids loved When You Wish...my favorite this season. It also helped that we had 2nd row seats :). I love that I have the opportunity to volunteer so that my kids can see live theater.
I also had the opportunity to go up to the Shakespearn festival to see the play Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. It was another well done play. All in all this summer has been great and it is hard to let it come to an end. But the kiddos go back to school tomorrow and I start school on Thursday. So bring on the regular schedule yay! The kiddos are keeping me busy with their different activities. But I love it.
Forgot that we actually did something on Thursday. I asked Hollee if she wanted to join us at the children's museum for free day. She said yes and we were also joined by Paula's grandkids. The kids had so much fun playing and didn't want to leave. But it helped when we took the kids to McDonald's.
And some random pictures that I think I have mentioned but who knows...I am tired updating.
