Say what?!?!?! Another slow week??

Why yes...yes it was...well for the kids at least...mom not so much.  Normal activities for the kids all week.  Saturday was a little busy with pageant rehearsals and a family Halloween party.  Then Aspen had a friend sleepover to boot.  For me, it was end of 1st quarter on top of a trip to Salt Lake for our grade level outing (trip was completely it 25 hours).  But it is all good...went and hung out with some of my students, got grades finished, oh and started the transfer of files over to my new school computer.

Here are the students who helped me get lost in the corn maze but also to get out of it.

This year for Halloween Aspen wanted to be a zombie Cinderella and Colt saw some knight stuff at the dollar store so that is what he wants to be.  For the family party though, Aspen was just Cinderella.  The party was fun for the kids and I was horrible and didn't take any pictures of my kids.  I got some pictures and video of Oaklee (Colt makes appearances as he is the one making her laugh) but I never took any pictures.  My dad took a few so I'll have to see if I can get a few of them from him.

Aspen went to a Halloween party/sleepover at Audra's with a few other friends so Colt and I came home and watched a movie.  Well Colt watched a movie while I did some more computer swapping and then went and watched something else on my kindle.  He wasn't too happy when he discovered I wasn't there watching it with him.  So Sunday morning we watched another movie together.

So like I said a pretty calm week this week but we do have some awesome things planned for this upcoming week so be prepared :)

A slow week...finally

Well besides our normal activities of gymnastics and karate the only other thing the kids had this week was the story telling competition.  They both did a great job and I am told that Colt is a substitute if anyone can't compete at the district level.  Aspen is a little upset that she didn't get chosen but I told her she did a great job and to be happy for her brother.  The librarian told Colt that next year she would like to work with him more on his story.  He didn't do all of his animations and actions cause he didn't know if he could.  So if he does get to compete at the district we will make sure he does his animations.

This week also happened to be my Fall Break so I got Thursday and Friday off from work.  I was able to go to the temple on Thursday and do a few errands to prepare for the kids' hunting trip this weekend.  On Friday I had my infusion (a blessing for sure) in the morning.  My medical insurance got changed in October and I also switched neurologists who was not on the program to prescribe my medication.  Luckily I had some help and was able to get my infusion only 2 days after I was supposed too.  And by help, I mean heavenly help.  Everyone was shocked that the insurance pre authorization came through so quickly.  I know there were angels helping my paperwork at the top of the list.  After my infusion I got to go eat lunch with the kiddos...well one of them.  Aspen was on lunch duty this week so she was serving lunch.  I ate with Colten until he was ready to go play.  Since it was such a nice day outside they had the kids eat outside.

Once the kids were home we got busy making sure they were all packed up for their weekend on the hunt.  Grandpa Higgins had asked if the kids would be able to come up for the hunt since he was trying to get all of his kids there as well.  Of course I said yes the kids would have fun.  Aspen was looking forward to watching Hunter and Lindsay while her dad went out and hunted and Colt was looking forward to hunting with his dad and getting some things passed off in his scout book.  Holly also pulled out a tag so her and her family will be there as well so she drove them up there.

Don't they look so excited for the drive up there?

I have been enjoying some alone time.  I got the house (except for the kids rooms) all cleaned up.  I have found a new program to try and pay off some of my debt and watched quite a bit of Netflix.  I am rewatching Once Upon a Time and have one and a half seasons to go.  I did get my visiting teaching done when I met up with my partner and the sisters we visit at Zeppe's.  It was the first time for all of them to be there.  I think they all enjoyed it and were happy to be introduced to it.  All in all, it has been a great fall break and I am rejuvenated and ready to go back to work for the last week of the quarter.

These pictures popped up on my Facebook memories and I thought they were cute.  I haven't got a clue if they are already on the blog (or other blog) so here they are again.

October is off to a fast start continued...

This past week was fall break for the kiddos.  Since it isn't when my break was I took it off to be able to do things with my kids.  Little did I know that they would ditch me to go hang out at Grandma's with Alijah and Jeramiah.  Haha that's alright...I can use the break.

Thursday we got Oaklee as usual but this week Aspen was able to go over to Grandma's house with Oaklee.  She wanted to spend more time with Oaklee, who can blame her...she is a cutie.  I spent Thursday morning deep cleaning the kids rooms.  When Colt decided to wake up, he got mad that I didn't wake him up to see Oaklee.  So after iI got the rooms cleaned, we headed over to Grandma's.  That's when she told me that the cousins are coming over and my kids wanted to join them.  But Grandma would come pick them up later that night after her class.  So the kids went over to Grandma's which meant I had some time to myself on Friday.  I went to the temple early Friday morning with Terri, who is in town visiting.  Then I came home to watch a little TV and go to the gym.  Then I went to check on the kids.  They had been over at the school playing but had taken the phone with them and lost it.  So everyone had been looking all over the field and I tried one more time.  Had been there about 10 minutes when I asked some kids if they had seen a phone and they said over by a tree which is not where Colt thought the phone should have been.  So it is all good and they still have the phone.  After that, we took a little trip up to Cedar City so the kids could see their dad.  He was down for a funeral and wanted to take the kids out to dinner.  After dinner, headed back to St. George where the kids joined Alijah and Jeramiah at the pool for a couple of hours.  Then it was back over to Grandma's for another sleepover.

Saturday I went to the temple again with Terri before joining the kids for a day full of fun.  There was another craft at Home Depot so we went to that.  Then we headed over to Ivins for a mini Halloween carnival.  Really it was just a place for vendors to try and sell their stuff but had candy for the kids that were dressed up.  There was also a little park the kids could play at.  The best part was there was a boy dressed up as a Sith Lord from Star Wars complete with light sabers.  Colt got to hold the light sabers and got a picture with him.  It was a really fun carnival.

Later that afternoon, the kids had a birthday party at the Children's Museum.  The party was for Aspen's best friend Audra.  The kids had so much fun playing.  Colt didn't want to leave.  He put on a couple of great shows which I got on video.  I wish those could be put in a book but they are on FaceBook so you can find them there.  What a fun day.  I love those days with my kids when we are out of the house having fun.  Not to say that staying home isn't fun but it is nice to go out and have fun.

October is off to a fast start.

It is already half way over and to me it just started.  So October 1st was General Conference and then last Sunday was our stake conference, my Sunday schedule has been off.  It is nice to be back on schedule.  I will catch up from where I left off.

So for family home evenings, two weeks prior to General Conference, we had learned about the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.  It was interesting to learn facts about each one of them.  The FHE after conference, we went down to the temples visitor center to see display of art from Del Parson.  They were all incredible photos of Christ depicting different parts of his life, including childhood.  Then we ventured into their missionary display.  They have a wall of 1,000 missionary tags from all over the country and videos of some returned missionaries.  We only watched two but I could have watched all of them.  We will be heading back there sometime in the future.  Then the kids found some interactive things and colored pictures to email to Grandma Chris.  All in all, I think it was a great Family Home Evening and the kids really enjoyed it.

When we returned home, there was a package for the kids from their dad.  He had recently gone to Denver for a Broncos game and got the kids some souvenirs.  They loved it!

That next week held the normal activities.  On Friday, the kids got to go to a kids carnival for their Primary.  The primary earned the carnival by filling out a chart to bring their scriptures to church.  The carnival was amazing.  The leaders had everything covered.  They had tickets to do each activity, snacks, cake walk, face painting...just everything.  The kids had a good time and were sad to leave a little early to go to their next activity.  But I am so glad that my kids have Primary leaders who know how to have fun with the kids.

The next activity for the kids was their first time doing the St. George Marathon kids run.  It was just a mile around a couple of blocks but they got to cross the finish line where the marathoners would the next day.  I think the kids had fun.  It was our first doing this so we didn't know what to expect.  We learned a little bit and next time we don't have to be there on time haha.  The kids got t-shirts and medals for doing it.  I am, again, so happy they enjoy doing things outside of watching TV.

Saturday morning we went to Home Depot for their craft day.  The kids built a bank.  They had to do so quickly because they had rehearsals for the pageant they are doing.  The kids wanted to be in the stake's presentation of "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever".  The kids sure do enjoy doing these little projects at Home Depot.

Saturday evening was a fun night for us.  We were able to go to see VoiceMale in concert.  The kids' dad wanted them to see them in St. George so he paid for them to go, then I got Hollee, Jonah, my parents, Paula and Tori to also go.  It was such a good concert.  I laughed soooo much.  My mouth hurt still hurt the next day.  One  of the guys has moved down to Santa Clara so I hope they will return soon.  Colt was anxiously awaiting the Rubber Duckie song and was pleased when the two John's performed it.  Then afterwards he wanted to get a picture with John who actually sings it.  John then told us the story about how the whole "throwing of rubber duckies on stage" got started.

Flag Football season 2 is in the books

Colt is not thrilled but he did a great job playing this season.  He did get a little discouraged with teammates who didn't have as much passion for the game as him.  He had a great coach who helped him out.  I don't know how many touchdowns Colt scored this season but I am trying to help him focus on the fun of playing the game instead of scores.  Now that the season is over, he will be able to return to scouts - which he is excited for.

This past Friday night I was volunteering at Tuacahn so the kids went to Grandma's house for a sleep over.  Not sure exactly what they did but I do know that they went to the park and skate park.  They made cookies and watched a movie.

Saturday was General Conference.  I brought the kids home to do some cleaning that they haven't done for the past couple of weeks.  I enjoyed conference...the kids tuned in every once and a while when they didn't want to work on their chores.  Aspen got her chores all done....Colt wellllllll he did most of them.

So since I got the kids back this summer, I started reading Harry Potter to them.  The kids took off on their own.  Aspen is currently working on book 4 and Colt is almost done with book 2.  It helps that I am enticing them with a little reward for reading the books but they are enjoying them.
