Great weather = more outside play time

Well this week has certainly flown by. I guess that happens when you keep busy. Last Saturday Zac finished building his guns and wanted to shoot them so Colten and I joined him at the range. Colten even got to shoot a couple of times. I would have to ask either of them which gun he shot because I didn't really care, I was there for support lol. Sunday was a relaxing day.

Colten had his first football spring training on Monday. The wind was blowing something fierce but he said it went well. Zac went to watch and said it was pretty cold. But I think he is glad to be back in doing football stuff. Aspen is keeping busy with working 3 days a week and keeping up with her school work. I think we have finally figured out her science class lol (when 4th quarter starts lol). But she is doing pretty well.

Wednesday the little girls went over to Hollee's for a little bit to play with Oaklee and Raven. Colten and I were at home doing dinner and chores. Once those got done, we headed to Vintage park to kick the soccer ball around. I invited Jonah to bring the girls and hang out, which he did. Zac showed up a little after he did. The girls had fun at the park and the adults kicked the soccer ball around, sent Colten after any ball that went beyond us lol.

Thursday, the kids and I took an early day to go up to the Cedar City temple to do baptisms for the dead. Grandpa Chris was able to join us and do the baptisms and confirmations. We were on a tight schedule since we are down to one car and Channing needed to get picked up from dance. It was fun to have the kids spend some time in the temple, it being Colten's second time, and a good sacrifice of some time in school. We signed up for another time as soon as we got home. That night Zac and I had our self-reliance class and the kids went to Davis for snacks and watched a movie. It is nice when they are getting along and not teasing or putting each other down.

Friday was an evening full of fun. The girl's school was celebrating their 10th year and had a Spring fling party. We got hot dogs, chips and cookies for dinner. Then they had Zeppe's Italian ice, cotton candy, popcorn and shaved ice. They had bounce houses and obstacle course, cake walk, fishing, horse carriage rides, feeding animals. That was what we did, they had more. We invited Hollee and her kids to come hang out as well. The kids had a lot of fun. And since we didn't want the fun to end, we went over to Hollee's after that party was over. Colten went and got a friend to play soccer with (and later went to play night games). Zac helped Jonah mount a TV in one of their rental bedrooms and Hollee and I were in the garage while the girls ran around the house and played with the wagon. I left to go get Aspen from work but we stayed there until 10pm.

Saturday started with going to Oaklee's soccer game. Oaklee played goalie the first quarter and with the help of her dad, she stopped all 3 goals that came her way. Grandma, Grandpa and Darcee came out to watch. Then they headed to Hildale for water storage before coming back for Colten's game. Zac and Aspen headed to St. George to pick up some mice for the snakes while the girls cleaned their room. We headed out for Colten's game, which was fun to watch. The rec center only has 4 teams for 7th and 8th grade so we are on round two of playing the other teams. I missed the first game between these two teams but this game didn't disappoint. Our boys fought hard and won despite some opposing parents challenging calls and players. Aspen and I went ministering after the game while Zac took a nap, girls played on their phones and Colten cleaned his room.

After dinner we headed over to the city park (invited Hollee's gang) and we played/talked until dark. We had football, basketball and soccer going. We found out Hollee throws a football really well. The best was when Zac and Colten were competing catching the ball. Oaklee played soccer with me for a little bit before heading over to the playground with the other girls. I had played soccer with both Annika and Channing before Hollee showed up. Zac, Aspen and Colten had fun playing basketball together. Aspen is quite the shooter. And Zac threw the football to Colten. So, in all, we had a fun evening of family time at the park. Planning on returning tonight...just not staying as late lol. So happy that warmer weather has arrived.

Keep on marching...

Alright...I promise I will be better at this, especially since I purchased a "new to me" MacBook laptop. I am just waiting on the converters (cause why apple has to change up the set up every couple of years is beyond me) so I can get my photos on this computer. Then I will go back through and update the blog posts with photos.

So what have we been up to lately? I am not entirely sure but I'll do my best to remember lol. On President's day weekend we helped Zac get moved out of the booth he has been renting. At one point, Aspen accidentally broke one of the glass pieces for an entertainment center. But because I didn't want us to deal with it at a later point I went ahead and used the Shop Vac to clean it up. I kind of got stuck lol. Ok not really, but I wanted a picture.

The kids and I went to see "Uncharted" in theater after our hard work moving/cleaning. And we saw one of Zac's friends ad on the screen before the previews. Zac was shocked that his friend paid for advertisement lol.

We were a little surprised to get a day or two of snow. It was actually when Hollee had COVID. I went up to the store to grab her a few things and it was snowing hard, but not sticking very much. It snowed for a good 30 mins to an hour (so some snow was sticking). Then like 30 mins after that I looked out the window and everything was gone...saw a little bit of sun but no trace of snow anywhere. The right before I went to pick up the littles, it started hailing and continued to do so for about an hour - 2 hours. Crazy, crazy weather we were having. And when I asked my mom if they got anything in Santa Clara she said no. I was a little disappointed lol.

I spent the last weekend in February traveling up to Kaysville for the Utah Council of Mathematics conference. While in the car, I was listening to the audio book of "Will", Will Smith's book. It was definitely a rated R book (as far as language goes) but was very insightful and funny. I spent about 9 hours in the car and still didn't finish it. The conference was good...I just wished it was a little longer as I only attended 4 workshops and the keynote speaker. But the food that was provided was AMAZING. I also got some Iceberg on the way up and Burger King on the way back. Zac did an awesome job holding down the fort at home. He got Colten to his first soccer practice and game where Colten scored a goal. I was a little sad Zac couldn't come up with me cause the room provided was a business suite. Simply amazing. Oh and I found a teacher from Davis High with my favorite room decorations and just had to take a picture.

The Young Women's activity the next week was roller skating in St. George. Since it was combined, I got to watch Aspen do her thang on her roller blades. She did pretty good in the limbo game that they played too.

The first Saturday of March was a frigid cold one. Colten made some pancakes and flipped one that I am not sure how he got it to do it. But only Colten could master that feat. His game that Saturday was cold and windy. The earlier games were rainy and cold so I would much not be in the rain. I believe that weekend we were not productive at all lol.

On Monday, I had my semi-annual infusion so I headed out to St. George. The poor nurses couldn't get an IV started and had to poke me three times (two weeks later and you can still see the bruises). But it turned out to be my lucky day as my favorite caramel apple lady was having a sale on her apples from Saturday's market. I bought 6 of them (Hollee got 2) and picked them up after my infusion was done. Also, Hollee shared with me that Waffle Love was closing permanently :'(. I picked up a couple of waffles and Zac and I had date night in our bedroom.

Colten got his phase 2 of braces the first week of March. The plan is that he will have them on for 18 months but will have a spring put in after 12 months to help fix his overbite. His mouth hurt for a couple of days and it was hard to get him full but he is doing good now. Oh and I wanted to have a couple of Zac's skittles but found a dead cricket in there. Sent it to Zac and he said "what are you doing in my skittles? lol" but agreed to throw the rest away.

The weekend we had the girls was fabulous weather, so we naturally kicked all the kids outside. Although, I think Aspen was at work. Colten had another soccer game, in which he scored another goal (and I got it on video!). It was the start of Spring Break for Washington County so his team was lucky to have enough players to play but they played the entire game. There was also a player who got a hat trick of goals.

That evening after Aspen got off of work we headed down to St. George because guess what? We got the escalade running and had a car that fit all 7 of us :) We went to the new Cedar Pet Supply and looked at all the cool dogs/reptiles/aquariums they had. Then went stopped in at Frenzy and got some laffy taffy (like a little of each kind and now it's a guessing game of flavor it is. We got a few other things for the kids. Then, the sole reason for the trip, a trip to Waffle Love since they were closing the next day :( The original plan was to get three Dulce de Leche Waffles and split it among the 7 of us. Well, after the purchase of those 3 I earned enough points for $10 off, so Zac and I ordered our own. Colten got his own and the girls split one waffle each. The littles devoured their's and was still hungry so after we got done eating we went to Burger King for some nuggets and fries.  We also picked up Zac's dad to hang out while we ate. He has been sick lately so we just got him out of the house. We were on our way home, by the Snow Canyon State Park turn, when the car started to make a funny noise. Zac pulled over and called his friend, Randy, who brought his wife and another car to take me and the kids home while the boys worked on the car. Randy limped the escalade home but said the motor is shot. No just like that, we are down to one car again :(

This past week was Spring Break. Colten learned that he could ride his bike into Hurricane to hang out with his friend there. And since we had Daylight savings, was able to stay longer. Aspen worked her normal hours but did get to spend Thursday and Friday with Audra. I had to be in St. George for ACT testing on Thursday morning so I brought her with and Wendie picked her up from there. Friday, they went down to Las Vegas for shopping and lunch. It was nice for Aspen because she actually had money of her own and bought two pairs of jeans. Due to Spring Break the kids have been able to sleep in a lot more than we normally let them. I still had to get up and work, except for Wednesday which I took off to hang out with the kiddos.

Friday night, Zac and Colten went on a bro date to Phat axe, Apollo's and Cold Stone while I got some chicken tenders, onion rings and potato wedges from Davis and watched my TV shows from Thursday night. Aspen got home before the boys and her and I decided we would watch "13 Going on 30" and then the boys went to the back room to learn about geckos and morphs (or something like that). Saturday was filled with Zac building guns, me reading and Colten playing outside with friends. Aspen was at work most of the day. But we did get up to the range where Colten and Zac shot a couple of rounds in the shot gun and Zac tested his new guns. With his new shot gun, he decided to shoot at beer cans. He was doing a video of sobriety and shooting the cans...then said he much rather shoot them than drink them.
