And the chaos of COVID starting to calm down

This past week was the first week that the kids, well the ones at Washington County schools, did not have to wear masks...happy day for the kids.  Washington County sent out an email stating that Utah has met the requirements of the CDC and that they are encouraging masks at school buildings.  Both Aspen and Colten were so excited.

Last Sunday was Mother's Day.  It was pretty low key but I did decide that I wanted to go to Rooster Run for dinner.  Colten got me a fun card and a candle.  Aspen gave me a hot pad that she made.  Zac gave me a football keychain and a new water bottle.  And the girls gave me a fun card.  I had a great Mother's Day.

This past week has been low key.  On Wednesday, I was able to go to Tashlee's choir concert.  On Friday, we got 25 minutes notice (well Zac had more notice but didn't realize it was Friday) to go to Annika's dance performance at her school.  Well Channing had a dance too but she wasn't having a good night after taking an expected nap at her moms.  They were both great and I was excited to attend both.

Saturday was the playoffs for 7-on-7 football.  Hurricane played Dixie in their first football game.  Let me tell you that it was the most exciting game this season.  Hurricane ended up losing, a few questionable calls from refs that didn't go in our favor, but the team fought hard.  Colten stepped up his game in the second half and played great defense.  It was a little sad for him but we went to PetSmart for some mealworms and his face lit up when he found out they had a long-tailed lizard.  Then he also got to go to hi friend, Angel's birthday party at the pool so he was able to apply the short term memory tactic his coach is teaching him.

Zac has been working hard on his paledarium and it is looking awesome.  By far, the best one he has done.

Bring on May

Well on week of May down.  This week didn't bring too much chaos but still kept us busy.  Colten is wrapping up his first season of 7 on 7 football.  Aspen did her passion art project presentation.  My dad finally had his retirement dinner with the kids and spouses.  Zac got the Chevy truck bed done and delivered yesterday.  And I am anxiously awaiting to hear back from BYU Online High School about the job while working on finishing my third class for this term.

Tashlee, Aspen and Colten got up early Saturday morning to go work on the youth service project.  At least all the youth in Utah (maybe Southern Utah) were cleaning up the streets, beaches and highways of Washington County.  The younger youth of our ward went to Sand Hollow State Park to clean up the beach and area around the parking lot.  I had to pick up Colten early due to a football game but he had fun while he was there.  The girls said they got done early too.

It was fun watching Colten play in his game.  First off, he was such a gentleman by carrying my chair and umbrella to the field.  I was setting up the chair when he came and said, "Mom, I'll be on the other side of the field".  So I packed up and headed to the other side.  My parents joined me shortly after.  Oh and my mom gave me the cutest necklace that says "Football Mom" on it for Mother's Day.  Colten played his heart out.  He even got a catch but Hurricane didn't play well and lost.  After the game, we stopped by The Sweet Tooth Fairy for the free Mother's Day cupcake, then to Burger King for lunch before heading to the booth to help Zac.  We spent the rest of the day helping move cars in and out of the booth and delivering to St. George.

The girls spent the day at home.  Annika and Channing were painting.  I think Aspen and Tashlee painted a little bit too.  The only other thing I know they did was go up to Davis for some snacks.

Not sure what the plans are for Mother's Day other then I get to teach my first Primary lesson after having the year off from COVID closure.

Boy's birthdays and the end of another great April

Monday was the boy's birthday.  So naturally, I let Colten have the day off of school so we could hang out.  He went to the shop with Zac in the morning while I had an interview with BYU Online High School and then we headed to St. George.  We had lunch at Morty's.  Food was good, the wait time for food and price, not so much.  I was using the Starving Student coupon but somehow we got charge for 4 drinks (only received 2 cups - which is what we wanted).  I took the receipt back up and questioned them about it.  On the receipt it says 4 drinks @ 2.50 each.  He said that it would get refunded after he talks to the manager. He then brings me a receipt for the refund for $4.92.  I was like um shouldn't it be for at least $5?? But I didn't say anything.

After Morty's we headed over to Santa Clara, grabbed some Dutchman's cookies, then went up to my parents.  They had just bought a bigger trailer that would hold their side by side.  But we went in a stole the waffle iron's for dinner that night.  We stopped by Sweet Tooth Fairy for our birthday cupcakes and Wal-Mart before heading home.  We had a breakfast feast that night for dinner to celebrate the birthdays.  Colten had gotten his presents the night before.  He got a different version of Clue, Battlefront for PS4, a new Betta tank, gaming headphones, a picture of a 10-22 rifle to be gotten after he completes Hunter Safety (from his parents on both sides).  We are getting Zac's presents when he gets his tank closer to being done.  I think the boys had a great birthday.

Aspen has an assignment in Language Arts that requires her to do something she is passionate about.  So, she is doing an art piece.  It is due at the end of RISE testing (which should be this week) but she was busy with tech that she hadn't been able to work on it.  She is mostly done, just has to add in the girls.  I think it has turned out great.  She has such talent.

This weekend we spent Saturday morning in St. George at football (Colten got his first touchdown and I missed it on camera :(.  He almost got a second one but time ran out), then Aspen and I watched Hollee's girls for a few hours while the boys napped and then learned about crypto stocks.  We did go to the park and threw the football around.  It was a great day.

Oh and I got a new lawn chair with an umbrella for my birthday from the kids and Zac.  It worked perfectly at the football games on Saturday.  I also spent some time with the hedgehogs on Friday.  Sonic has grown so much.  I may be over feeding them...oops.
